Kathy
Risch was saved while in Sunday School at South,
grew up in the church and was also married here. Kathy
and John met in the College Group at South and have
been married since 1987. They have two children,
Cody and Callie. Kathy
is a graduate of Lansing Christian School and
Wheaton College. After graduating
from Wheaton, she participated in a short-term missions
trip to Japan. She taught at Lansing Christian
School for six years in the pre-school program. She
continues to substitute teach at Williamston Elementary,
and volunteers in her children's classrooms. In
1996, South formed the Children's Ministry Team
of which Kathy was a part. Her main
challenge on this team was running Vacation Bible School. She
joined the pastoral staff as the Children's Ministry
Director in 2000. Kathy oversees four programs
a week for Infants through 6th graders, and a volunteer
staff of approximately 150 who minister in these weekly
programs. South
ministers to 200+ children on Sunday mornings,
70 on Sunday evenings and 175 on Wednesday evenings. Vacation
Bible School averages 280+ children during the
